There’s a piece of yourself you can express on the football field... It is so emancipating, it’s indescribable.

Every Body Hit Somebody explores identity formation and gender equality through the documentation of the Carolina Phoenix, a semi-professional women's tackle football team based in Durham, North Carolina.

Still photographs comprise the backbone of a corresponding film. The 43-minute experimental documentary is constructed from archival media combined with 16mm film, still photographs, and photo-elicitation interviews. Accounts from players and observations of them throughout their 2013 championship season testify to their strength and resilience in the face of barriers still imposed on women in America.
